What a great trip, there is truly no place on Earth like Hawaii. The scenery is just as it is in any movie you have ever seen which is never the case in any of the places I have been. All that being said we only saw a very small piece of it. We spent all of our time on the island of O’ahu We were walking distance from Waikiki Beach and spent a lot of time in and around Honolulu during the Tattoo Expo but also made sure to visit the North Shore which was an entirely different experience. The North Shore was truly majestic and we got to visit the Kualoa Ranch where my all time favorite tv show was filmed LOST. Seeing all those places where it was filmed was amazing and also inspired my tattoo for the expo.
My client didn’t just want the typical character portraits so we did something unique. We instead took silhouettes of her favorite characters and filled those spaces with imagery from the show that related to that character. I couldn’t have thought of anything better to geek out with for a design. The final piece ended up with so much more meaning, much like the the show itself. In the show these characters each have such a backstory and the writers did such a beautiful job creating the details of their pasts so I felt like this was such a better ohmage to the characters of LOST instead of the actors who played them. I felt like the whole trip was my own tribute to a show that I still watch all the time, as most of you who have spent time with me in the shop know ;)
